Audience’s Rights Reform #15: UI/UX improvements

These edits would refine how players interact with the game world, in order to reduce friction and frustration.

Example A: All video games with unskippable cutscenes, tutorials, or explanations

All video games should be patched to allow the player to skip cutscenes, tutorials, and explanations. This would benefit impatient repeat players and people who would rather figure things out independently.

Example B: Pokémon GO

Many players have experienced frustration by accidentally tapping a wild Pokémon when they had intended to tap a nearby Gym or Poké Stop. The selection priority should be Gyms > Stops > Pokémon. Or better yet, when two or more hitboxes conflict, the app should ask the player which one they meant to select.

Gift limits should be per-person only. There shouldn’t be daily limits on sending and opening Gifts. In fact, the ideal mechanic would be quite the opposite. Gifts should expire if not opened within a certain time-frame (perhaps 14 days). This would serve not only to encourage sending and opening Gifts regularly, but also to facilitate participation by users with limited access to Poké Stops.

Also, there should be more ways for players to sort their Pokémon inventory. The existing sortation options are by date obtained, species number, health, Combat Power, name, and whether or not you have favourited the individual Pokémon. Options that could be added include sorting by number of Candy owned, Candy XL owned, and battles won. On a related note, there should be multiple in-game victory counts: not only Gym battles won, but also Raids, PvP, and Rocket battles.

Finally, there should be fewer restrictions on nicknaming Pokémon, at least for adult users.
