Audience’s Rights Reform #18: Minor mechanical buffs

This last category is a “catch-all” for edits that would make gaming less tedious or restrictive without major implications.

Example A: Super Paper Mario

Inconvenient obstacles should be removed or altered if they add nothing to the game’s challenges. For example, Super Paper Mario should be patched so that the lasers in Fort Francis are only active during chapter 3-4, and not during revisits. They’re only relevant once, after which they serve solely to frustrate players.

Example B: Paper Mario 64

For convenience reasons, Paper Mario 64 should be patched to add Heart Blocks at Blue Station and the centre of Flower Fields, alongside or perhaps replacing those areas’ existing Save Blocks.

Example C: Pokémon GO

Yes, Pokémon GO makes another appearance. Players should be able to decline unwanted Eggs, either by transferring them to the professor (like Pokémon) or by dropping them off at Poké Stops.

The Party mechanic should be abolished, or at least made entirely optional (that is, it should not be a requirement of any Event, Special Research, or Meetup task). Forcing players to form groups is discriminatory. Not only are single people immediately at a disadvantage, but the limit of four people to a Party makes the mechanic unfair to families of five or more.

The Tag mechanic should be expanded. As it stands, there are only eight possible colours for Tags, though it is possible to assign the same colour to multiple Tags. Adding more colours would make it a lot easier for players to stay organized, especially those with upwards of 10,000 Pokémon in their storage.

Finally, the search feature should be expanded to allow searches for “Unremarkable” Pokémon (not shiny, perfect IV, special background, legacy move, etc.) This would serve to facilitate transferring Pokémon in order to free up inventory space, e.g. before a Community Day.
