Audience’s Rights Reform #14: Accessibility and fairness fixes

These edits would serve to ensure fair access to features or rewards, and to correct mechanics that unfairly block or punish players.

Example A: The Pokémon main series games

All Pokémon main series games should be edited to enable nicknaming any Pokémon including traded ones. The original-trainer restriction is not just unpopular; as far as I can tell, it’s universally hated. The series should also be edited to omit paying prize money when you lose a battle. The only way to lose money should be to spend it on items by choice.

Example B: RPGs in general

Fleeing from a battle should always work. Realistically, there would be nothing to prevent it. Luck-based fleeing mechanics serve little purpose other than to frustrate players.

Example C: The Sonic the Hedgehog series

All Sonic games from Adventure onward should be patched so that checkpoints save your score and rings. It’s unfair to punish players for retrying.

Example D: Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO‘s Gym mechanics are not ideal. First of all, if a Gym is under attack, only people on the same team as the attacker should be able to join the battle. Trainers on the third team should automatically be kicked out. No one likes doing most of the work, only for someone on the third team to hijack the battle near the end.

Players should be given the option to recall Pokémon from Gyms early, in order to avoid losing out on daily coins. (Perhaps Pokémon pulled out early should need two Revives to heal them instead of one.) This feature exists for Max Spots, so it would make just as much sense for Gyms.

Gym battle winner priority should be lost if the winner leaves the Gym’s radius for more than 20 seconds. No one should have to wait to assign a Pokémon when it’s clear that the battle winner isn’t coming back.

Finally, and perhaps most notably of all, Gyms should not close just because there is a Raid in progress. Instead, the Gym should move to a separate “tab”, like how Raid previews work now.
